If I Ever...

If I ever get a classroom I am so doing this anchor chart! It could be great for almost any grade! I would ask my kids on the first day of school what kind of teacher that they want. Write down all the responses. Then I would have another anchor chart saying "What does a teacher want in a student". Have the kids come up with words for that one. Display them around the room as a constant reminder as to what is expected of them and of ME! :)

Thank you
Teaching and Learning Together for the great idea!

Life Update

Well....

I applied for a job today.

I am currently working at a great school as an aide (well not currently I guess, since its summer). I love the school I work at. But there is no teaching opening until after next year. The school I applied at today is also a great school. I did a semester long field experience there when I was in school. The position is for a 6th grade teacher. They are also requiring at least 3 endorsements. Its a good thing I have 4! Whew!

I am praying that I get an interview {prayers are gladly accepted :)}. The deadline is next Friday (the 1st). So we shall see!

In other news...

Summer is going GREAT! I have definitely been staying busy though! I have been running around like a mad woman trying to get everything organized for my Little Miss Relay Pageant. It is a pageant I put on to raise money for the Relay for Life. Last year was our first year and we raised $3000! I hope we can do the same this year! It is a lot of fun. I will have to post pictures after we have it. It is on June 10th. Can't wait!

Do you have Relay for Life in your community? If so, what do you do to support it?

all I have to say is...

2 more days!!!

and then I'm FREE at last!!

Ok, that sounds like I have the worst job ever! I don't though, but can't teachers love summer break as much as their students!?

Words to keep me going...

We have ONE more week of school left! Yay!

These last few weeks have been very hard on me. As most of you know, this is my second year as a teacher's aide (Title 1 and RtI) and 2 different schools. I am BEYOND frustrated by being an aide, you have no idea! I went to school to be a teacher, not an aide! I just want my first teaching job! I was bound and determined to stay at the school that I am currently at. I love it here. The teachers and staff are amazing! BUT they won't be having an opening until after next year (as long as we don't lose anymore students!). I know, you may be thinking, a year isn't that long! But when I have already wasted 2 years by being an aide, it is long enough!

A school that I did some field experience at is going to have a 6th grade opening. I have decided that I am going to apply. I haven't applied anywhere yet this year. Mainly because there hasn't been many openings. Pray that I will get an interview!

Through my frustrations, I found some motivation or inspiration to help carry me on through the rest of the school year. At the end of each school day I go into the 1st grade room to help them pack up for the buses. I got in there a little early and they were drawing pictures of what they wanted to be when they grow up. One of the sweetest little girls came up to me and showed me her picture. It said: "When I grow up I want to be a Teacher."After she showed me her picture she told me that she wanted to be a teacher because of me and Miss L (her 1st grade teacher). Right there, she melt my heart!
And that is the reason I am teaching!

and the countdown begins...

8 days left...but who's counting, right?!

Wow, I can't believe that it is almost summer! And I have no idea what I am going to do this summer! In the past I have either worked at the city pool or I have worked at the local gym. I am at neither of those places this year. I have had some inquires about babysitting, but nothing set in stone yet! Hey, I wouldn't mind just staying home and getting things down around the house!

I will be taking a few trips this July. I will be vacationing with my husband and a couple friend of ours to Myrtle Beach (I have never been there before, I am so excited!). I think I also might go as a sponsor with our church youth group to PCB! WooHoo Sounds fun right?

What are your summer plans looking like?
